My name is Henry Haemel. This is my personal blog where I share my insights on the book of Psalms. The book of Psalms involves very poetic and emotionally charged writing which I will analyze through the lens of an engineering or “head” mindset.
I am the youngest child of four to German immigrant parents. I grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario, which is part of Niagara’s wine country. Most people don’t know where St. Catharines is (15 minutes from Niagara Falls) or how to spell it correctly.
I am trained as a professional Civil Engineer. I studied engineering for five years at the University of Waterloo where I learned, among other things, that water does indeed flow downhill. Who knew? I have made a career as a drainage engineer working in both the private and public sectors.
My lovely wife Lorraine and I have been married for over thirty years. We have three daughters, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren. Our home is near Peterborough, Ontario, and we enjoy being part of the Pathway Life Church community.
In my free time I enjoy road cycling, herding my three cats, bird watching, reading, playing board games, photography, sweet desserts, listening to music, spending time with family and playing with our grandchildren.
One day I’d like to write a book on, “How to Load a Dishwasher Properly!” According to my family, I am headstrong regarding the proper way to load dishwashers and no matter how hard I try, my family still doesn’t get it right.
